Making a Wet Grinder Smarter
Making a Wet Grinder Smarter
Power cuts have been a constant.
During the monsoons, they show up almost every day. Not always long, but long enough to interrupt a run.
The grinder resets when it happens. Just stops and waits.
Which means every overnight batch comes with two unknowns — when the power went out, and how long the grinder actually ran.
You set it for twelve hours, but you don’t really know if it got twelve. Or eight. Or something in between.
Hard to trust anything that comes out of that.
After a point, it stops being an inconvenience and starts affecting the process itself.
So we built around it.
Added a small brain to the grinder. Something that keeps track of outages, logs actual run time, and gives us a clearer picture of what’s happening when we’re not there.
Started looking at motor temperature too. Not because we needed to right away, but because it felt like something we should understand.
It doesn’t make the power cuts go away.
But it removes the guesswork.
Lets us know what actually happened, not what we assumed happened.
Still rough. Still evolving.
But now the process holds, even when the power doesn’t.
